Placing an Order
Fill out the relevant Order Form completely (see Resources,
above). This saves us time and ensures your job gets processed
quickly and accurately.
Delivering Files
We accept files on CD or via our FTP site. Click on Send
File (above) and follow the instructions.
What to Include
Please include all supporting documents, including all of
the artwork imported into your file. Include a copy of all
typefaces used, including those used in the EPS files.
Images: RGB or CMYK?
Make sure all images are saved as CMYK without DCS color
separations. Scan your images for the Indigo digital presses
at no more than 200 dpi at 100%. Resolutions higher
than that create excess RIP time and may attract an additional
charge. Save images created in Photoshop as a CMYK EPS or
a CMYK TIFF, not RGB. Don't use PICTS or JPEGs.
Color Tips
Only 15% of PMS colors can be accurately rendered using
CMYK colors. If you have questions about matching PMS colors,
please call us and we'll send you a color process book printed
by an Indigo.
Don't use large, flat tints or blends in your design. We
recommend adding noise using the Photoshop filter or some
sort of texture. Digital presses have a hard time laying
down large, solid areas of color without streaking or banding.
Try not to use plain black for large areas of black in your
document. Use a rich black (screen mix: 40% cyan; 40% magenta;
0% yellow; and 100% black) for black areas. However, stay
away from rich blacks on type smaller than 36pt. or thin
lines on graphics.
File Formats
Save layouts created in Illustrator or Freehand as an EPS.
For the most part we do not postscript out of these applications.
EPS files are placed in QuarkXpress so we have greater control
of the print specifications. If they are not saved as EPS
files, you may be charged for the time it takes for the
conversion. Save Photoshop files as EPS files without DCS
separations or as TIFF files without compression.
Image Sizes
Make sure your image fits within 11.6" x 17.2" including
all crop marks for the Indigo E-Print 1000. The sheet size
is 12" x 18".
Hard Copies
Include a hard copy of your layout, including trim, fold
or perforation marks clearly indicated. If we do not have
anything to check against before sending out your job, we
have no way of knowing if it's correct! Asking for a proof
is your only protection.
